Just wanted to put out a warning for those of you that use thick winter floor mats. On my home today from work I went to pass a car and after completing the pass went to slow down. The car did not slow down very fast and seemed to still be pulling. I let off the brakes and the car took off. I immediately put the car in N, threw on my flashers, and coasted down to around 40 when I put it back in to gear it took off again. I then bumped the floor mat and and the car returned to normal. The pedal must have been lodged up against the floor mat. Make sure your floor mats don't creep up and over by your gas pedal. Could have been a very bad situation!!!

 

Glad to hear you kept it under control. Nothing scarier then a few tons of metal with a mind of it's own.

 

My car has a hook in the floorboard to keep the mat from sliding forward

 

The all weather mats are nice and the driver's side does have the hole for the hook in the floor. Unfortunately, Chevy didnt measure it very well and if you put the hook in the mat, it wont lay in the floor right. At least that is how mine is. Mine havent moved since I threw em in the floor but I always keep a watchful eye out.

Thanks for a great reminder to all to keep an eye on your vehicle floormats every once in a while to make sure they do not ride up on your gas / clutch or brake pedals...

I used a few strips of velcro tape on the bottom of my rubber mats,problem solved, glad you didn't have a wreck!!!
