There is an HHR 2LT for sale locally here for $800. It looks good cosmetically but the ad states that 1st and 2nd gear on the automatic arent working. It starts out in 3rd gear. Ad further states that its either transmission solenoids or the computer. Said car has 200k miles and has been used as a medical courier. What do the knowledgeable people here think it is?

1 & 2 are the same solenoid. IIRC, so that is my guess. If is was "fleet maintained" it sounds like a good deal.

Even a new trans at about $1200 keeps it good.

Either a solenoid or the TCM should set a Pxxxx code.

Not sure yet jyst trying to see how much could be involved with it.

For 800 it will be just s gamble. Might be some cheap fix, or replacing the whole transmission.

Yeah I decided not to pursue it. I already have enough to do between car maintenance and home improvement projects
