Well the good news just got better!! Can you say, "Two HHR concepts!"?
I learned a little more about the two concepts from the driver who brought them to us. BTW, Stetson was a really nice guy!
The Nomad had been to over 300 shows and was the 5th HHR off the line. It will likely go into GM's Heritage Museum. It is BADA$$!!
It has a Air Ride suspension kit which really gets low. Supercharged motor, Pioneer double-din in-dash with nav. (Really rock!) No horn or working A/C. Drives like a DOG!
The transmission has some serious issues and the motor keeps wanting to die. Coolness factor is off the scale though!
The Explorer HHR was made by/for the Boy Scouts of America. It will either be donated to them or crushed.
I was told this is common for concept cars.
Nothing on the interior was that different except the red leather inserts on the seats and door accents. This one drove MUCH better. If you stomped on the gas it would bogg down, BUT, if you eased on the gas quickly and smoothly..........IT SCREAMED!!!!
This thing could MOVE!!
You could tell on each the issues with getting the motors tuned for a supercharger. The Explorer used a 2.4, couldn't tell on the Nomad, though it looked more like the early 2.2.
I took as many detail shots of the motors and unique features as I could Sunday morning. Others took some great shots of the cars overall.
Oh yeah, I got to drive them both!
I even got to drive the Nomad off the trailer. WOW, was I nervous!
One other thing about the Nomad. There was an issue with its third brake light; wouldn't turn off and the battery died twice. Not a good thing on a car with shave door handles.
Pics to come asap!

I'd like to know if any aftermarket places are gonna make a grill for regular HHR's that looks like the grill on Concept 5 (like concept 1 - but that looks like a Turbo grill opening) I think that would be a great aftermarket grill. Haven't seen anything really like it for sale.

Nope, it was a one-off. You can't tell for the pics, but it's suffering from all the traveling. The color on the grill is vinyl, not paint, and it's coming off. The grill and rear beauty bar were the main reasons I wanted to see that one. the beauty bar is SWEET!
