What is the biggest thing you hauled in your HHR?
Here is style, I am going to try, may be able acess rear with tilt feature.

Top racks, more of an investment ($$ wise), plus I want to have similar gas mileage, that I am enjoying. I like the look when cool bikes are up there, but don't like the clutter-ness of rack when, not hauling bikes. Also, although now mine is lower, it is tricky putting bikes up on roof, need to be careful, loading, pulling into garage, etc...
Cool to see another cyclist and HHR modifier, most of my cycling friends, don't get me modifying my vehicle, but I am having fun!!!
Definitely, maybe we can arrange a meet, cruise, carshow & bike ride!!!

Thanks Mike, Joe, Mark and others. Lots of good info. I can see it may be a tight fit with my riser bar. I have a 2001 GT XCR I-drive and it's been a warrior of a bike, but I plan to upgrade to a Giant Trance 2 soon. I'll probably get a hitch mount for the HHR on long extended weekend rides but want to leave the bike in the car for those afternoon rides after work.
Great pics Mike! Where should I have the Chevy dealer send your portion of the comminssion on my sale?

Good luck DB! (Actually, it was JoeR who posted all the pics!) I have a Giant AC2 with double crown answer forks (6" travel), and a Giant VT-2 with a Psylo (5" travel), so that would explain why mine won't fit inside.
Fortunately, where we live there are plenty of trails all within riding distance of our home. My wife and I travelled to all the hot spots like Sedona, Vegas, Moab, etc., when we owned our shop. I used to live up in Big Bear also, so biking is a big part of our lives. Now that we have our 18-month old son, our biking consists of short trips with the Burley trailer in tow!
But don't worry....Iv'e already got my sights set on junior's first ride!
Enjoy your new HHR!

Oops, sorry Joe. BTW, Joe, I love your HHR. I can't decide between the Black, Dark Gray or Silver. It looks great with the 18" Casino rims. That will be the one upgrade that I will probably do for sure.
Mike, you make a good point about the forks. My GT has the original forks (still) and they are only 80 mm. The Trance has 100-120 mm forks, so I could see that being something to consider.
I've done Sedona a couple of times. I live just down the hill (Yucaipa) from the Santa Ana River trail system and ride up there, Big Bear and in Fawn Skin occasionally. Also ride Sycamore Canyon in Riverside, near where I work. I graduate 2 boys from HS this summer and hope that I can get more time on the bike.
Most of all, looking forward to a new ride that I can call my own again and don't have to worry about getting thrashed. I can't stop thinking about this HHR!

Yucaipa huh? Crafton Hills baby! We used to do the Jedi Trail at night out there. Lots of good rides here in SoCal, eh?
Good luck with your HHR - you're gonna love it!
(Oh, and if you wanna spend more time riding and less loading...get the Alllen rear hatch rack!)

Brought home a Craftsman 33 gallon air compressor in the HHR, no problem. Funny, the Sears guy that brought the compressor out said it would never fit in that little thing. He was surprised when we slid it in and the HHR simply "ate it".
Another trip to Sears and the HHR was carrying a three level rolling tool chest. On the way home I stopped off at Sams Club and topped her off with food.
At the home Depot parking lot, a crowd gathered to watched with amazement as the little HHR gulped down 8 foot shelves. One guy walked over to see how the little guy did it.
This little thing (HHR) is awesome.

Just so folks don't thing I'm "challenged" since I can't get my bikes in...
A few weeks ago I made a trip to Lowe's to buy shelving for our parts storage. Ended up putting 3 wall-sized storage racks + 2 base cabinets AND a 78-inch x 24-inch DOOR in the HHR!
All with my little Audiobahn bandpass box hooked up and playing!
The HHR can haul!
