What is a good OBD 2 code reader?

Hi all.

I borrowed my dad's code reader to have a look at something on my van, and was really impressed with how it worked.
It was an OTC trilingual obd 2 can and abs tool. He got it a UAP/Napa for 320 bucks. ......ouch....lol
What I thought is trying to pick one up on sale maybe a bit cheaper, but I don't know if the other brands out there are any good, or if they work the same.
Canadian Tire has one on sale for 50% off this week...

Anyone out there have this unit?

Lordco has the Equis brand for a hundred bucks more or so...

Thanks for any insights....

If you have a Android phone or tablet. Check out the Torque Pro App. you will need a Bluetooth OB2 adapter, available on Ebay for about 25 bucks. This is very neat and has lots of various gauges.

The one in your link is the same one I have, and it works great. It doesn't do ABS diagnostics tho' - for that you have to shell out a few more $'s. At $99's it's a steal. The diagnostic software used to provide a link to their resources that gave a full diagnostic down to the parts needed, as well as allowing you to order the specific parts. However they now charge for that service. :( BOO!!

But that reader has worked well on the HHR, as well as on several of the neighbours vehicles. I have it stored in a protective case, under the rear floor in the car to keep it handy, esp. when travelling.

Amazon has the 3100 at $97.00.

I am currently debating on getting the 3150, it's $159.00.

I never bought a code reader before so still unsure which one to get, there are so many to choose from. but $160.00 is about my limit that i'd spend on one.

Still undecided but I would like to get something soon.

Heard bad customer service reviews for the Actron scanners so gonna stay away from them.

I don't like the idea of having to pay extra for anything. If there is a code....I want to know what the most likely fix is, and not have to pay for that info.......most of these readers seem to not include the fix solutions....
The one my Dad got a Napa does.....but it is 350 bucks.
Let me know which one you get and if it includes the repair solution info without any surcharge.

I really Don't want to spend that kinda cash for one.

I read in a review that the innova online thing is 20.00 a month for your car or 40.00 for a year.

I need to read codes and then delete/clear them, as I am sure I will throw a few after the cammed head and supercharger are installed.

I looked at a OTP one thats included but then I read their customer service and pc updates are non exsistent.

I just started a thread on the innova 3150, no replies so far.
