What kind of car did you give up for your HHR?

I had to give up my baby. A 2002 V6 fully loaded premium Mustang. When you purchase a premium Mustang pretty much every option available comes standard. There were only three available options with i had all three (leather seats, automatic trans., and Mach 1000 stereo). It was mineral grey with dual gold racing stripes going from thin to thick like on an old Shelby Mustang. I also had gold C stripes on the sides of the car. The window were tinted dark as hell with Mustang across the back and little side windows. Smoked head lights, honey comb tail lights, and a third brake light tht lit up Mustang with a running horse on each side. I had a complete Mach 1 suspension (shocks, struts, and springs) so it was lower than most V6s and GTs. It also had a Densecharger CAI with K&N filter, MAC headers, and Magnaflow dual cat back exhaust. The computer chip was from Diablo Motorsports. I had the rear bumper and fog lights from a GT. I had a 2 tone beige interior with a burlwood interior kit. I loved my car so much I had my first daugters name and birthday tattooed in a flaming Mustang logo. I had to give it up for a family car because my second daughter is due any day now :D  and I have a nine year old step daughter. I guess I'll have to have my new daugters name and birthday tattooed in a Chevy logo. :p: As much as I miss my Mustang :( I gave it up with an understanding with my wife that when I get our garage finished off and tax time rolls around I'm getting a 69 fastback to restore. All black, pro touring style. :D

My previous car was a 2000 Ford Ranger truck (3.0 V6, auto w/OD). With the arrival of our first child last year, the Ranger just didn't make sense anymore - we had to drive my wife's car everywhere as a family. I was looking for something with hauling room, baby room, and great mileage. I test drove the Honda Element, Ridgeline truck, and several small SUV's & 5-door hatchbacks - nothing else came close to the HHR.

I'm loving the style, performance, comfort, and lockable hauling space - something I did not have with the truck. Getting 32MPG hwy and 24-26 around town (it's a big town).

2000 Ford Focus SE. 78,000 miles. I had 3 accidents with it. All which was not my fault. People were more Focus on my car then road..LOL. I never got around getting it fix and the warranty ran out after 65,000 so I said heck with it. Once I saw the HHR. I knew it was for me. Captain Howdy there are going to be plenty of things that can be done soon too the HHR. Just think of it as a new age Hot Rod. A better engine can be put in. There is so much potential this car offers

From a '99 Tahoe LS/SS Conversion to the HHR 2LT/SS

I gave up (traded in) my '99 Tahoe, which I had heavily customized and converted to my version of an "SS". Although I loved my Tahoe, it was over 100K miles, the extended warranty was almost up, and at 11 MPG going downhill with a tailwind, something had to give. I drive 60-80 miles per day for my business. The Tahoe was a 4x4, but I only took it off road twice in two years. I miss it, but I really love the HHR. It too is now an "SS". It does everything well. Everyone who sees it wants to know what it is. Women especially love the styling - all think it's "cute". My guy friends like the retro look. I feel like a celebrity driving it. The last time a vehicle of mine garnered that type of attention was when I owned my '73 Corvette. I've owned a lot of muscle cars. My first car (at 17) was a '70 Chevelle SS396. I've had several SS's over the years. Loved them all. I'm excited about all the aftermarket pieces that will most certainly be created for the HHR. I'm looking forward most of all to seeing a bolt-on supercharger conversion kit.

I had to give a 1990 chevy cavalier. It wasn't to hard at all.

Don't have one yet, but soon to order. As I mentioned in another thread, I will be glad to give up my '88 Chevy Caprice. 4.3-V6, 105K miles. One ugly car. Nicknamed "My Hooptie" after an old Sir-Mix-a-Lot song.
