what is this light?

I have a 2007 HHR LS. There is a little light/sensor/glowing thingy in the roof between the sun visors, above the rear view mirror. We can't find anything in the manual that says what this is. Anybody know?

They're not worthless. They work really well at lighting up the top of the dash near the defrost vent if its completely dark outside

Mine only comes on when the headlights are on. I keep my headlights on auto.
