What will replace your HHR?
I'll hit 120,000 miles next week on my SS with some minor issues along the way, but I really need to start looking at what can replace it.
GM offers nothing. Chevy no longer has a car with the SS motor and nothing even remotely sporty unless you step up to a Camaro. Sorry, but it's to big, to heavy and has annoying blind spots. Doors are to long making difficult to exit in parking spots without hitting the car next to you. Unless you get a V8, performance is lacking. V6 offers no handling package and to address it will take the price to the V8 level. GM has abandoned the Sport Compact market. The Cruz is not a replacement. Low power, no performance and is a great looking car for a grandmother. Don't even offer up the Buick with the Turbo. I will never be old enough to own a Buick. Here are my possible choices BRZ/FSR, 2015 Mustang Turbo 4 cyl., Focus ST. What are you considering? |
I'm at 167,272 miles no major issues or rust, so with my wrenching ability and determination, I'll keep rebuilding the HHR as required until I hang up my keys forever!!

Even though I have no intention on replacing my car anytime soon it would probably be a GMC Terrain or Jeep Patriot. I know the Chevy Trax comes out next year but it's a bit to small.

Mopar. Ewww. :barf:

I wont be replacing my HHR for at least another 4-6 years however I will be replacing my 321K mile Accord within a year or less. I was looking into the Chevy Sonic LTZ or the Honda Accord EX. I just might even sale my soul to the devil and get a Dodge Dart SXT.

Attachment 16604 I am sure you would change your mind if this arrives here as a Buick. ;) |

I'm with Oldblue in post #2, I can't honestly forsee ever not having at least one of my HHR's on the road until age finally catches up with me. When the '06 finally gets too weary, and at 316,000 miles it isn't showing any signs of it, I'll take it off the road and overhaul it from bumper to bumper. That holds true for my pair of 2007's and the 2011. I like these quirky little trucklets too much to ever replace them. |
Gentlemen we have the technology to rebuild them! Problem solved!

What's wrong with Buicks? LOL Attachment 16604 I am sure you would change your mind if this arrives here as a Buick. ;) GM fans in the U.S. can only dream of this car. We got the last-gen Astra as a Saturn, but the closest thing in the States now is the Buick Verano, and there is no room in the Buick lineup for such an aggressive sports car. A near-300-hp SS version of the Chevy Cruze—on the same Delta platform as the Astra—was considered a few years back, but canceled. Boo, GM. Boo. |
I know I will be searching for another HHR with low miles down the road. And I will likely own my pet project car until I depart this mortal coil. :)
