Tire Rack. They stand behind their products.

For anyone looking to read their date code. You can find your DOT number on one of your sidewalls. Tires produced after January 1, 2000 have a four digit date code at the end of the DOT number. The first two digits represent the week of production and the last two digits represent the last two digits of the year of production. So, 3500 as the last four numbers indicates that the tire was produced in the 35th week of the year 2000.

Just for fun, I went out and checked mine. Made in the weeks of August 9th, 23rd, and 30th.

On a side note, how does everyone feel about the tire replacement plans etc.? Discount has them, and i can't help feel like it is a warranty scam. Theirs is basically if anything happens to the tire down to 3/32 of tread, they replace it. Each tire it costs $22 to put it on there. I was trying to get free install on my tires and the guy said no can do, but he could give me all 4 replacement certificates for the cost of 2. I still didn't bite. But $40 or so total isn't bad insurance on tires that cost over 100 each (their price $140).

I check a tire makers warranty, I know ie: BF Goodrich has 6 yrs warranty or so many miles.....Depending on tire..

Had Dunlops once that started to show some minor cracking @ 4 yrs old..
I called Dunlop
since they have a 6 yr warranty also.. & I used the "Buzz- word" at the time "tread separation"... They told me to carefully drive to Sears & have them inspect them. They did & I got Brand new tires........& Big smile..

These were purhased from Tire Rack & T/R was gonna stand behind them. Only problem was they wanted me to send all 4 tires for inspection, prior to me getting 4 new ones from them.. Which would have left my ride on jack-stands..

I got tires from Tire Kingdom..Goodyear Assurance. They were about $5/tire cheaper than Discount Tires. They also did the installation.

I'm looking to get a new set of the Continental DSW which are getting great reviews...97 per tire at Tire Rack, 107 at Discount Tire, 80 something at treaddepot (who I have never heard of) but they are oos there.

Town Fair Tire matches the internet prices so I have them do all my tire related purchases. have not let me down yet. Might end up being like 10 bucks more when all said and done but for convenience it is worth it

buy the tire replacement plan. I found out the hard way on 2 tires for my ford 250super duty diesel truck that the wife pulls her horse trailer with. had two tires two weeks old torn up on I- 10 in Texas after hitting piece metal on the road. tires cost $140.00 each.

Thanks for the link. I've also been looking at the Cont Extreme Contact DWS tires (225/45R18) and they had the best price of $124 each. But I have no store locally, but I do have a Discount Tire nearby. I submitted to Discount the Treaddepot price and they said they will price match. Plus a $50 rebate. I should have their answer tomorrow on the price. :thumb:

I always price them at Tire Rack, then take that price to the local tire dealer, and tell them, if you match this price, put the car on the rack and put them on.
