Wind noise/side window deflectors

I recently purchased a 2008 LT. I am trying to eliminate the wind noise
at freeway speeds. The car has 4 "professionally applied" wind deflectors
(Ventvisor) over the side windows. I will remove all 4 if they could be
the cause of my noise. Does anyone have experience with the side wind
deflectors and increased wind noise?

Thanks
JMichael

I did pick up a bit of wind noise after I installed my Ventvisors. But it never bothered me.

Turn the radio up. Seriously though, I have them and have no wind noise. Maybe check door gaskets.

How are things going with trying to find the culprit of the wind noise? We want to have the deflectors put on our Tahoe, but if that is going to happen then maybe we won't. Please, let us know any updates about this.

Wind noise can be very difficult to pin point the source of. I have a motor home, wind noise was driving me nuts, I was convinced it was coming from a corner of the windshield. Turned out to be one of the side mirrors, and the noise was resonating through the frame. Minor mirror angle tweek, and noise is 95% gone.

I have not removed the visors YET. The wind noise is fairly constant at all 4 of the doors, which I believe rules out the door seals. My neighbor has a 2011 which I will ride in next week to help me with my decision. I like the overall looks of the vent visors, however the noise is excessive.

Laco, I plan to mount a Blue Ox baseplate so I can replace my present toad, a
99 Saturn.

thanks

If you are talking about the noise when some of the windows are down (especially with a rear window open slightly, along with a front window at the same time), I believe a few people have noticed it kind of drumming. Ours does that at highway speeds - but it's bearable. Ours are the overlay type as well, that are fastened to the door, not the type inserted into the upper window channels - but we get no wind noise as such.

Finding the source of a wind whistle can be pretty hard - removing the vents and testing would be the first step. But if they are the overlay type, they can be very difficult to remove unless you use dental floss to saw thru the two-sided tape. Perhaps try some painters tape over the edge of the vent to seal the gap between the shield and the door and take it for a test drive?

I have a Blue Ox baseplate on my 2007 HHR. Had it put on when the car was about a month old. You will have to pull the HHR front end apart, but its very unobtrusive once mounted. The HHR is a great toad.

ditto here! I also put a switch/fuse in position #8 so I don't have to pull it each time I tow.
