Oh man, I didn't get my letter yet!!!! What the heck?

Seriously anybody not know this was coming, weren't they using the same ignition for all years? So if the early years have the issue - they all do.

If they can't get enough parts made, I will be fine with a new Camaro instead - that's fine.

Well, a teenage girl was killed recently when her brakes, steering and airbags were turned off because her ignition prematurely went out on a state highway. Ms. Barra and co better consider that some rental cars @ $25 per day might be cheaper than paying family members tens of millions in death suits and ruining the reputation of the company.

Also don't forget, GM was in bankruptcy just 4 years ago... they cannot file again for 7 years after the end of the last one... Hope you don't own stock.

You know, posting up unproven, false or misleading information is a problem in itself.
Seriously. Saying her brakes were turned off ? Come on.
With the ignition off, the brakes will still work and the steering can still be turned(with a little extra effort for both)
Only if the key was turned to the lock position would the steering be inoperable.

King Aires, do you have a link to this story, was it a GM Delta Platform vehicle, were there extenuating circumstances, etc?

Fanning the flames of a media fueled panic does not help anyone.

Chevrolet has a site where you can check and view any outstanding recall notices on your vehicle. Click the link below, follow the instructions, input your VIN, and you'll be able to view any pertaining documents in PDF form.

This is just the one going to court now. There have been 16 deaths and over 31 accidents and injuries.

Another in 2009: http://www.businessweek.com/news/201...r-a-deadly-mix

Furthermore to the ****** claiming the brakes and steering and airbag would work after the ignition switch fails... http://www.freep.com/article/2014032...-Motors-recall

No sir, electric power is what we use to steer genius... no ignition, no steering... Right there in the article for you to read.

Yes I am a genius.
The electric power steering motor is an "assist" motor. Works just like a belt driven power steering pump on a conventional ps setup.
You can still turn the steering wheel(and turn the steering) with the power cut off to the electric motor. Same applies with turning off the engine for the belt driven pump system.
As I stated before, as long as you don't turn the key to the lock position which will lock the steering wheel.

PLUS. I said brakes and steering would still work. I didn't say anything about airbags.
Calling someone a ****** is just childish.

Sorry if you don't know how your vehicle works. Getting your "facts" from some obscure internet story, well, everything you read on the internet ain't always true.

Interesting. I wonder if the new switch they put in my 09 for the *other* recall is a good one or bad one?

My car might turn itself off, but at least I can get the key out!

I think you're refering to the key cylinder replacement that GM did? Unless I've been following this wrong, this new recall is for the ignition switch which is a different part than the key cylinder.

Got it, thanks. Apologies for not knowing - I admit I was in "doesn't apply to me" land.

Can you imagine getting a loaner to drive instead of your own hhr? Yuck, no thank you. I enjoy mine too much. I'll wait for my letter.

Hhr ign switch recall

I am a service advisor for a Chevy Dealer Please have patience we WILL FIX ALL OF YOUR CARS. Parts won't be ready till mid April. If you have a loose IGN only use you key with nothing attched. If you have had an IGN switch repaired you can get you money back just go to you dealer and get a request for refund. Please lets remember your dealer is there to help you.
Also GM did not make the switch it was out soursed. The cars are still as good as ever. Thanks
