Being told that if your VIN doesn't pop up a recall code, you don't get squat. The power steering warranty has been extended to 150k miles on my vehicle though, although they said GM is refusing to pay for warranty replacement unless there is an "issue".

I have played around with mine, and wonder if the SS doesn't have a different switch? Can't get it to pop out of position, at all, in anything resembling normal usage. Hmmm.

"King".....

I suspect, and I suspect only, the models that GM has experienced the most problems with will be done with immediacy.....probably in groups. Those that had very little experienced will be done afterward. Now understand, I am not categorizing by year, necessarily. The recall could be done by VIN in certain years....as an example. But as it stands now, they all will get done.

Additionally, those that have not received The Letter or are not in the data base, may be recognized later. In an effort to not load and panic the system the notification will more than likely be done in groups.

JMO....but I remember contributing to a few of this type of recall previously and that is how it was handled. New company, new CEO and essentially new management, so anything can happen.

Sorry for the confusion, we were talking about the Power Steering motor recall which is not a replace the part style recall but more of a wait until the customer complains. In this instance it doesn't matter what your vin or year is, they will only replace if you experience symptoms and extended the warranty on that specific part.

Hello GM Customer Care

I have a 2007 Chevy HHR which falls into the ignition recall.

I called Romeo Chevrolet in Kingston NY and Potamkin Chevrolet in Manhattan, neither have "the fix" in shop from GM.
No one from dealers are responding to me on the car rental alternative till the car/truck is fixed. Do I have to crash first?

I have a house and an apartment in either location, so either dealer will do for the Recall Fix.
But is there anyone out there in GM-Land?

Where does GM stand on fixing or at least checking my vehicle ?

I received this PM from Chevy Customer Care:

(Hey Patsy, I just read that all chevy HHR's are eligible for a replacement even if they have replaced the ignition before. Is this true?)

Hello Sabrajet,

Yes, this is true. Even if the vehicle previously had the ignition switch replaced, the current ignition switch must be replaced as part of this recall. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

To be completely sarcastic; you just don't have to worry if you are over 21. The statistics are really strange. Why are all the deaths under 21 years olds?

On TV report I heard the other day said "dozens" of deaths, strange that today Congress is saying 13 possible deaths, I guess a baker's dozen makes it multiple.

I think Erica Tiffany may have meant "may" instead of "must". But, if she is the official voice of GM make a copy of your correspondence.

Remember, anything you read or receive on the internet is true, take it to the bank. There is this guy in Africa that will send you $3 million if you just send him a couple $thousand.
