When starting these HHR's, you only need turn the key to start momentarily. Works like a push button start, momentary push and it starts, or in our case a momentary twist to the start position.

Don't most vehicles start that way now? Our Mercedes, our Kia and our 2005 GTO start that way. The only one of ours that you have to hold the key on is the 2004 Ranger.

Haven't you noticed the number of new owners that complain about holding the key doesn't help?

Yes most newer cars are that way. But, Daddy's car wasn't. I admit that I did not notice for many months that holding the key in the start position did NOTHING.

The salesman on the first HHR we test drove showed us that 'feature'. The other cars I mentioned above came later. I was actually surprised when that didn't work in the Ranger.

My wife is not dumb by far, she has had the hhr for just over 3 years. Yes she know to just turn the key and let got. It did it to me tonight where you turn the the key and start it then let go the key don't return it stays in the start spot.

If that's the case, take it back to the dealer that did the recall work for you. If burnishing the new key does not resolve it, something maybe screwed up in the cylinder. Regardless, the dealer needs to make it work correctly.

I'm late to this party. I just got my 4th threatening letter from Ms. Barra concerning my formerly owned 2008 HHR, which was consigned to a junkyard within minutes of trade in 2 years ago.

The recall also triggered a letter from my county government billing for 2 years of "car tax" on a car that was in the junkyard.
