Some 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt models and some 2009 and 2010 Chevrolet HHR models, which are also involved in the ignition switch recall.

Recall

I called my local Chevy dealer immediately after reading this post..
The Service Manager said that they had not even heard of this recall?
He did, however, take my VIN and phone #, and said that he'd reseach this problem and get back to me tomorrow...

It also adds a lifetime warranty on the power steering motors for 2006-2009 HHRs.

In reading the letter it could include some 10s.

Jeez it is just not GM's year so far..

I've been trying to sign up on the owners site so I will get notices etc but there site just sits and spins and never goes anywhere. Since I bought the car used I need to get it registered so I can get notifications.

You may not have to register. We got the lock replacement recall from a couple years ago and both of our HHJRs were bought used. Though we did buy them from a Chevy dealer.

Damn, GM is on a Roll with these recalls. Fortunately I'm a year shy of this one!

I'm a body shop manager at a Chevy dealer and I first heard about it yesterday on Car and Driver's site. I went to my direct link w/ Chevy warranty info and found it had popped up for all to see at GM last night. It does say it excludes all Turbo models. I guess my SS used a different setup.

Since the SS has a different steering ratio, I assume that the electric motor is different from the regular HHR's.
I don't recall hearing of any SS owners having problems with the electric steering motor. If there are any, I hope they'll speak up.
