Absolutely. Have you thought about mounting yours above the mirror? thats where i put mine but on the right side of it.

Great spot thats exactly where I put mine at as well... sems like the most logical place to see it. and I also ran my power wire as well like you did but I run the Valentine One radar in my other vehicle I run the 8500 series

I used to use radar detectors years ago but in our part of Ohio about all we have are mostly Lazer guns.

The detecters for Lazer are not very good when you have cops jumping out from behind trees and shooting you once your right on top of them.

The best thing to do now it let someone run up front and tag in behind and hope they don't have a string of patrol cars to pick you up.

Good points , it is all a game not getting caught....

However i will say my 9500i has actually picked up laser on 2 occasions while the officer was tagging another car...something i thought not possible.....

Police in the south are usually just too lazy to get out of their cars...

A good lazer detector will work but your odd of getting nail also go up.

An enterprising cop might hang out on those areas, eh?

also... it was mostly a joke, because I haven't owned/used a detector in at least a decade, maybe more.
