09 SS Turbo out

09 SS Turbo out
So it appears my Turbo has gone out... Stepping on the gas bogs down the engine instead of turbocharging it, and parking the car doesn't result in that little metallic click. Not seeing any codes either. Could use some ideas on how to troubleshoot
#2
Wow, that could be a lot of things, don't even know where to start.
Maybe look into the "no click" situation first. Perhaps whatever is causing that is making the computer say "Houston, we have a problem, must protect the system, no turbo for you!"

#3
What metallic click are you talking about?
Low fuel pressure could be a possible cause also.
#4
I would hope low fuel pressure would show up on the ecm...
#5
I've never noticed a click. Right before you park or shut off engine, the engine is at idle, and there is no boost to depressurize. Are you sure the click is not from the shifter moving into 'park'? Of course, now you can't check because it is not clicking anymore...
Simple things, like check your oil and coolant levels, the turbo needs both.

If anyone is interested, here's a diagnostic log

If the waste gate valve is hung open or missing, I can see you having a low boost condition.

FYI.
I hear that click also. Sounds more like a light "clunk" sound. About 20 seconds after shutdown like the OP stated.
The closest thing that I can compare it to. You know that little safety ball in a shop vac that shuts off the suction when the shop vac tips over ? When you shut the vac off and the safety ball slides back to position, the clunk sound it makes is comparable to the sound my SS makes.
I think it was our member Dr. Loch that explained one time what that noise is. Maybe he'll read this and post up some info.
I believe it's something to do with the throttle plate.

Found a couple threads
https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/hhr-...hutdown-17977/
https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/hhr-...-parked-14711/
Just tried it on my SS. Just like in post #13 of the second link, it did really sound like the throttle body.
So if your throttle body is not working properly, that could certainly cause the issues you're having.
