I just snapped a picture with my cell phone camera of a 2008 HHR with Blue Flash Metallic paint. The metallic flake in the paint gives off a purple glow when the sun hits it just right. You can see the glow a little bit to the right of the driver side tail lights. (Sorry about the quality... crappy cell phone cameras...) I know this isn't an SS, but this color will be available for the SS (soon).

 

thanks for posting that. i was wondering what it looked like in natural light. This is an extra-cost option. Just looking at it, did it look like something that you or I or anyone else would want to pay extra for it?

Color is subjective so it's hard to ask that, I'm just curious as hell as to what it will really look like in person and whether or not you thought it would be worth the extra bucks.

 

It absolutely has the look of a premium extra-cost color... I would even go as far to say that it looks custom. It's not a color that I would go with... it's a bit too "trendy" for me. The thing I don't like about it is the metallic flake can make the color look non-uniform. Part of the car can look purple and part of the car can look blue in certain lighting. I LOVE metallic paint jobs; this one is a little too extreme for me though.

This would be the "bright chrome" appearance package, optional on the 1 LT, standard on the 2 LT.

 

They must be making diffferent versions. Then
This is a 2008 Panel, heres the sticker price.. No Options of Chrome package and this is a LS model. You can see the painted beauty bar..

 

You can't compare apples to oranges. The LS will be equipped w/ the body matching beauty bar and door handles. While the 2 LT comes standard with the Bright Chrome Package. Note in the original photo that it is a LT, most likely a 2 LT.

 

I don't think I'm diggin' the color or the new roof rails...

The color is alright I guess, just not anything I would pick. If I got a blue car, I would want it to be blue all the time

The roof rails I think should be either all chrome or all black, not a combination
