2009 SS - basic info needed
Where can I get the "basic" stuff on my new SS? Oil types / grades / change schedule? Other operating requirements? For instance, the sales guy at the dealer says GM wants me to idle the car for one minute before shut down.
NONE of this is in any of the paperwork that came with my car, so I need to confirm / deny these little quirks and nail down the hard data if I can. Thanx, Gary |

Thanx, Gary 5W30 Mobile One is in it and what GM recomends. Use your Oil Life Monitor as it is accurate and will let your run 7000-10000 miles on a oil change. It is fine and GM will not void your warranty. No idle down is needed. This is a modern Water Cooled turbo with synthetic oil. It is made to handle the high temps and will not kill the bearing as in the early T type Buicks of the late 70's. Salesman are the last to take advice form 80% of the time. Oh also read your owners manual as there are some neat things you can learn that you would not expect.
Things like with the remote start the rear defrost comes on etc. |

On Wednesday I tried remote starting my car from my office, which is a good 300-400 feet away from the lot, and on the second floor. It worked! :thumb: |
I may get the extended remote as it works 1200 feet away. I can do it from my desk then.

I never noticed that until the temps got cold here back in November. I like it!

It worked! :thumb: I was inside a movie theater on New Years Eve with my wife ("chick flick"). As the credits started rolling, just for the heck of it I hit the remote start... Car was warm and toasty when we got to it across the parking lot. Only problem after that, the seats wouldn't slide back far enough... :censored: Happy New Year to Me! |
