5th gear.

I've had my 09 SS since last august and could never figure out why I had to pull up the reverse lock release to pull my fifth gear. I thought maybe it was normal however I just recently drove a cobalt ss and realized I didnt have to do this. Is this normal or just mine? I cant find a manuel ss around here to find out for myself.

Mine does not need to lift the lock release to hit 5th . . . Granted I don't use 5th too often . . damned traffic. . . .

Yup, as C2Vette and others said in the earlier posts, the side/side cable probably needs to be adjusted. I had to "adjust" mine front/back cable after I popped it off completely during a high-speed run! I got a little over zealous!

You know... It isn't too hard, but the dealer I bought mine from insisted there was no adjustment on mine when I bought it. I complained of the same situation... It eventually did get better, probably partly me adapting and it gettting broken in.

After seeing how mickey-mouse the stock shifter is though I am definitely in line for the aftermarket shifter like C2Vette & others have bought. It looks and sounds pretty slick!
