Back in the Shop
 

Well unfortunately my SS (7k miles) is back in the shop for a 5th time in 16 months. List of reason as follows:

1) Clutch sensor replaced
2) Clutch Sensor replaced a second time
3) Horn not working-relay replaced
4) Horn not working again-contacts cleaned
5) Rattle in front left shock/strut-apparently fixed
6) Back in now as horn doesn't work again and the rattle is back.

Too bad. I love driving the car and my father still works for GM (30+yrs). I was looking to buy some mods for this thing, but have to say I have had fewer issues with my 87 5.0L Mustang over the same time period.

It is too bad they are still having issues with overall quality even with new Equinox and Enclave etc. I was hoping that the 2010's would be getting better reviews from independent automotive experts, but it seems that they are still pinching pennies at GM and won't listen to what the public wants. I give Ford credit, lot less red tape and easier to change with GM. GM will have meetings for 3 years to finally make a decision, but by then the trend has changed again.

Some are good some are not . . . unfortunately that happens with mechanical things . . . my SS, has been flawless over 5,000 miles . . . sorry to hear about your issues.

I wonder if your "issues" could be related to a loose harness, which has been know to happen on the HHR.

I have had my SS for six months and already have 9500 miles on it.

I have yet to take it to the "shop"!

wow, that sucks. hopefully these quality issues with domestic cars will get worked out before it is too late.

Mine is in at just over 10k with a supposed knock sensor installed incorrectly or something to that nature. I took it in for an oil change, told them about a surging issue I was having with the boost on light acceleration at highway speeds, then they told me it was a TMAP sensor installed backwards, they got the part, I took it in last night, then today they called me and said it was a knock sensor and it was a longer job so they would need it through tomorrow. :(

It just seems some don't have the luck as often it seems like the same people all have the issues when most don't have any?

Must just be the Friday builds???

After 20,000 miles and some hard driving, including a Superchips tune for the last few months, my SS is still going strong and has never had a major problem. There's a few rattles that I really don't like, and my drivetrain makes some strange and disconcerting noises, but the car keeps hauling ass :D

mines been in the shop more than that in 2 months.

we have a love/hate relationship.

mines also a freaking rattletrap.

I have about 17K miles on her now.

Get ready... in another 3K miles, the rest of the screws, duct tape, chewing gum, and bailing wire will come loose. It's a good thing I got the Pioneer Premium stereo in this thing... at least I can drown out most of the rattling for now, though I know that at some point the rattles will unite and overpower even that.

damn, this is so sad. Why, GM, Why? All we want is to buy American made cars from you and you sell us this Mexican made crap! The General is it's own worst enemy. I pray that my SS doesn't encounter issues. But why should I be praying for a car with 10K on it?
