Best Color On The HHR SS
Ditto
My 1st black vehicle, after having about every other color in the crayola box in my life(I'm 49+) and other than the fact that it seems that my black SS is a dust/dirt magnet.
Tho i've had it for going on 2 weeks now, i still just stand there n smile when i'm all done washing it. (3 minutes later and the dust will get stuck to it, so i gotta be fast w/ admiring it ASAP
I think i went w/ black cuz since the SS's are blacked out already, everything kinda all falls into place when looking at it. IMO w/ other colors, when you start adding stuff to your vehicles , most times it's black or chrome and with too much stuff added , i think it kinda gets a lil "too much" when the stuff does not mesh with the body color.
My '03 Silverado lent itself nicely IMO, to having the hood deflector/tinted windows/window vents/bed cap covers and roll top bed cover/mud guards etc., and it being very dark gray(almost black when not spic n span clean, as per other people) all the added stuff looks (to me) like it all belongs there.
Not really a monocolor kinda car guy, but when my dad teased me about the SS not having any chrome on it (when i told him the sticker price) I told him "i paid extra not to have any chrome on it"
I do wish more colors were available for both the reg and SS HHRs, it would be nice to see different colors
Black cars look nice when all shined up. I've only owned one black car and too much time was needed to keep it looking good. Black cars seem to be dirt magnets. My HHR is dark gray and other cars in the stable are red, white and blue. White cars don't usually shine up well, but they don't show dirt as much as black cars.
I just can't get enough of my Viki Red SS! Every time I look at it in the garage it just screams "Just drive me already!"
I love black too, but the was no way i could keep up with 3 black vehicles...
It'll never happen. I emailed a GM inside guy and this is his reply:
"...the HHR is in the same plant as Vue 319, Cadillac 166, Saab 168 and Chev 4200 and needs to share paint lines. At the moment yellow is not offered in this facility. If we offer yellow in the facility as a mainstream color, then at least 2 of the other car lines would need to take to make the annual volume greater than 3%. The question is whether the body styles/brands in the plant other than HHR are suitable with yellow.
Going forward there could be opportunity to offer HHR in yellow as an exclusive 'spring special, Jan - March' which would be batch built and limited. A mainstream paint line would need to shut down for this thus reducing the number of colours for the other vehicles for a period of time. We will study the opportunities to see if we can find a synergy."
I waited a while to hear back, then of course, when he finally replied, he told me it ain't gonna happen. Not this year at least.
Too bad, Hot Rod Yellow would be a killer color for the HHR SS.
If I were to order an HHR SS today, I would prolly get Vicky Red, but I ride the fence between that and the BFM.

You'd get something along the lines of a very dark brown if not black.
But then again he also tried telling me that the HHR SS was only available as a 5 speed.
So back to the question of the thread title........
After seeing pics of all the available colors, the SOM looks really good, will get to see one in a few weeks to tell for sure. But the only ones I've seen in person are the black and silver.
