Boost gauge when key is on?
Just seeing what everyone else's boost gauge does when you first turn the key on. Mine just sweeps up to 5 psi and drops back down. Is it supposed to do a full sweep, or is mine not acting right? I just noticed my boost gauge light flickers at idle, and I thought maybe these 2 things had something in common. Thanks for the help.

The partial sweep up and back to zero is normal start-up routine. Don't know what is up with your light flickering, other than you are not the only one to report that issue.

i never paid attention to the sweep on start up, but i have noticed sometimes the back light kinda flickers soemtimes. i havent taken it in yet, still got plenty of time for that, i just added to my list of things for the next trip to a dealer.

Mine flickers too at times, it's going to the dealer Tuesday for that among other things.

Mine sweeps up to zero, then slowly builds pressure. Does anybody have a boost gauge acting weird? Mine has swept to zero, gone down and then back up before on start up.

If the sweep is on purpose, they usually only sweep far enough to ensure that they don't get trapped over on the right. 4th gen F-bodies sweep the tach and speedo full range only if the battery has been disconnected. I guess they're assuming it's not likely that the car was turned over while the key was off. Late model Vettes always sweep full range, I guess to impress the drivers.

the needle jump is normal as the stepper motor in the gage is running a diagnostic to make sure it's operational. I took mine in in 08 for the flicker and they fixed it (by replacing the gage) under warranty and there was a buletin about it, but it started doing i a year later, it's a bad wire I think.

On my boost gauge, it usually sits on the 20 or 30 underneath the zero instead of on the zero while driving, unless I kick it. Is the gauge supposed to be sitting on zero during normal driving ?

No..unpressurized and under low load conditions, the the eng operates in a vacuum ( below zero), as power demands go up it will rise depending on the load and demand. A non turbo'd car will see zero at wide open throttle,and 20-30 at idle and steady no load cruise, zero is equal to atmospheric pressure.
