correct size map sensor

-What is stock map sensor 08 ss 2 bar ? -I keep seeing that most of you that are running 23 psi of boost or more are running 3 bar maps - I run 23psi now with the stock map --about ready to do a couple more mods -maybe get to 25-26 psi - will I need a 3 bar map to get optimum performance results - Still will be running stock turbo (may upggrade when it goes out ) . some guy on a ZZP YOU TUBE video is saying that the top 5 performance upgrade would be the 3 bar map sensor -- opinions --anything to that ?

You seem to be talking about the sensors that come with the GM Performance Upgrade kit. The sensors come with the dealer installed tune.
If you are willing to go with an aftermarket tuner, they can give about the same performance using the original MAP.

It depends on how accurate you want your fueling to be. 2 bar sensors can read up to 28 psi of absolute pressure. If you're at sea level, that means in theory, your ecu is "guessing" your boost pressure after about 14 lbs of boost. As you go up in elevation, that number goes up, but then in theory, so could your boost. I'm sure GM knew this during development and has likely compensated for it very well in the stock programming. But for me, it stood to reason that if I wanted to add boost, I should have an engine management system that can see, and accurately compensate for, that added boost. So the best way I saw to do that was to get the GM upgrade kit with the 3 bar sensors. It's a great kit. Been pretty turn key for me. The kits are still out there, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking to modify their LNF engine. My local GM dealer was able to still obtain one about a year ago and I purchased another one from Jeg's online and plan on using it for an upcoming SS build.

ZZP has the sensors you’re looking for.

The GM tune uses the same 3 bar MAP sensors everyone else does. Available from GM and others, including ZZP. They need to be modified slightly by trimming some plastic to install correctly. A tune designed for those sensors is mandatory. The GM tune is more expensive than the others, but GM dealers can install and support it. My local Chevy dealer quoted it last year. The standard installation involves cutting and crimp splicing the wires. The crimps can cause trouble because changes in resistance will addle the sensor readings. There is a highly recommended non-GM “pigtail” adaptor (2 needed) that eliminated wire cutting and crimping. Also available from ZZP and others.

That’s why I recommend the ZZP website.
