Dealer Flash

I started the NEW TO TURBO thread and still negotiating price on it with the Chevy dealer... so I don’t have the car yet...
but ive been trying to educate myself and I’ve leared here about GM turbo upgrade.
My understanding is it’s just a tune flash.
But it will bump up the HP and torque to 300+... now that sounds good! Lol

My question is:

1. Is there a way to be able to tell ,by looking at the engine, the SS I’m looking at has it?
I think I read somewhere that the upgrade comes with a Bosch sensors with BLUE LABEL or something like that...

2. Can the stock internals in engine and tranny handle the increased power & torque?? I thought GM “detained” it got automatic SS, for reliability of the tranny...

i know its an $500+ (more like $700?) add on to the car and I wanted to go back to check it out myself....

thank you!

Here is a link to a pic of the upper TMAP sensor, with the blue bosch label. This engine has the GMTU. As I understand it though, it may be difficult to find a dealer to do it anymore, as it is so old.

There is no way for us to know if the engine in the car you're looking at can handle it. You would need to have it gone over with a mechanic knowledgeable about turbocharged ecotec engines.

I considered getting the Stage1 upgrade recently and my dealer was still aware of this and expressed no issues being able to do the job, although the cost was up there.

I ended up getting a custom tune for less than 1/3rd the cost and didn't have to change any parts, and it puts out the same numbers.

If you got a tune that puts out the same power without changing the sensors. Your gonna want to get acquainted with ZZP. The stock sensors are 2 bars.

2 bar maps only read to 14.7psi anything above that for boost has the tables skewed to work. So not totally accurate. But tends to be ok. 3 bar reads up to 29.4psi so can be tuned more accurately. All about keeping the motor safe at higher boost levels.
