I think all HHRs (even LS, LT) as of 2009 did, but I'm wondering if all the '08 SSs
have ABS and side air bags.

 

I think that's stander for all SS that I know of.

 

ABS yes; in 08 side air bags were an option not standard on the SS.

Our '08 came with the Side Curtain Airbags(option) actually saved us about 100 bucks on insurance. USAA

I know mine have the side airbags, and I didn't think I paid more for that option. I'll have to go back and check my window sticker.

Speaking of which, it is difficult to sift through crash safety data, especially side impact results, not knowing what testing was done with vehicles that had side air bags and which didn't. I think they are starting to better document this in the last couple years, but before that, it is sometimes impossible to know. The bottom line is that most of the time, having side air bags significantly improves the side impact crash test results.

According to the information that I have available to me, the 2008 Chevrolet HHR SS had the power four wheel disc brakes with standard anti lock systems. They had the 54mm single-piston front calipers and 38mm single-piston rear calipers.

I would have to agree with other members of the forum; I can see that the side air bags were available for the 2008 model year, but from the way that I am understanding my information it was not standard for this year.
