different driver seats
08 you could get either the stock seat or the optional Drivers Performance seat. It has more bolsters on the side and more thigh support. Oh and you get a neat GM performance tag.
Early 09 they made a passenger performance seat also part of the option so you would get both front seats. As they later raised the price of the SS again they made them standard.
I got the 08 with the odd two seat combo and upgraded the power part of the passenger seat to the performance cover and foam. The tops on all the seats are the same only the bottoms are different.
Note at the time I did mine they only offered the drivers side so my tag is on the wrong side. Also my foam lacks the rear wire that you hog ring too. But I was able to use adheasives to old the rear of the cover in place and it make for a much smoother look.

While I was waiting for mine to be built,
I had gone with the then standard seats. But during the wait the drivers performance seat became standard. And later both performance seats became standard. I waited 4 months for the build to begin as I was one of the unlucky people who held out for the performance display. Once Chevy decided that if we chose to remove that option we would not go to the bottom of the waiting list, I did not hesitate. Three weeks later I was picking up my SS at the dealership. This was in 2008, between June and October.
Same here ordered in July of 08, with driver upgrade, order held until RPD and 5sp were available in March of 09, glad I waited, paid more but all available options were installed then no longer available after after 09
RPD was deleted as an option and became standard in 10, no interior options available in 10, no panel option available, still the same great car just a big difference from the beginning of the model run until the end
well on one set of seats the drivers seat is identical to the passenger seat then there is another one that the drivers seat has the suede goes all the way to the end of the seat, which seat is which? was the different seat an option in 08? mine is an 08 with every option except the Brembos and Limited-Slip Diff. i got mine used about a month ago
The optional seat was,
the one with the suede insert. I believe it was a $150 option for '08 & the early '09's. The reason that there were mismatched seats for awhile is because they only made the drivers' side performance seat standard. Then they saw the error of there ways and found another way to jack up the sticker price. I think that during the 4 months that I waited on my order, the sticker price went up by @ $700.
Both seats have suede only the performace seat goes all the way to the front. Also the side bolsters are taller. the seat is more flat. Not as I stated it will also have the GM Performance tag on the side.
GM did not have any errors in their way. It was more due to marketing to make changes in each year. GM knew they were limited on what changes they were going to make due the Chapter 11. The BK has a lot to do with what was done or not done on the SS.
They offered more standard items as they rasied the price along the way. The two seats were in the prototype Bob Lutz showed at the intro at the Woodward Cruise. They had them planned all along. By raising the price and offering more content it makes for a easier way to market a vehicle and make the price increase look less painful.
Things like the back up camera and other still born options fell victim to the lack of money. GM also was not going to plow a lot of money into a platform that was dying even before the Chapter 11.
Either way the seat was an 08 option and all that have the seat option will have the two different seats unless they were changed like I did mine. 09 it just depends on the time of year it was built as to if it was an option or standard with one or two seats.
Then you get to 2010 and the color options were gone as was the roof rack options. They made the SS pretty much a pick a color and you have no other choice other than the tranny and a few options.
