So which Parkway were you speeding on? Sprain Brook? Taconic? Saw Mill? Bronx River? One of these days I need to get back to Westchester to drive my SS on those parkways. I did manage to drive on Bear Mountain Road last month when I went to visit my father in northern Westchester. What a blast! :thumb:

Lol. The Taconic Pkwy up by Carmel. The Westchester Pkwys are awesome. My SS is at work today in our Body Shop(I work for Chevy and our dealer has a body shop). Someone hit the left side rear bumper cover and left a long wide scrape on it.Looks like someone pulled into a space and hit my side....Me,I would have left a note because thats how I am but this person did not and it will now cost me $250.00 to fix it. It's in the body shop right now getting ready to be painted.Bummer.....

I grew up about 5 miles from Carmel. My father commuted on the Taconic for like 25 years. Did you know that the Taconic was where they filmed the second half of the chase scene for the 1973 movie 7-Ups? Of course, the route makes no sense because they head west out of Manhattan via the GW Bridge, and somehow they end up in Westchester County. But that's Hollywood!

I must say....I LOVE driving this car(MY 2009 SS). I had an 07 HHR 2LT with the 2.4 which I loved but always wanted the SS. As much as I hate my job,I look forward to my 20 minute drive to and from work now.:thumb: The power of this car,the handling, everything is awesome. I knew the car would be great,I work in a Chevy dealer as a Parts Manager and we sold 3 of these already and the customers all came back and said they loved it. I will admit that Sunday on a parkway I was doing 70 and just hammered it....it went up over 100 mph :one:in no time and with no effort too. Now I dont drive like that normally and I dont condone it,I just did it because it was early in the morning on a looooong stretch of road with no one else near me. There is the disclaimer.
How does everyone else enjoy theirs?

You pretty well sum up how I feel. I look forward to driving to work in the morning and have even driven (vs flying) on 8 hour + trips just so I get more driving time.

The down side as you explained is that I just can't keep my foot out of it once in a while... I too have not been able to resist that long stretch of open road with nobody around, I too have exceeded triple digits, by a lottttttttt. (insert your disclaimer here)
I also have a drag racing ticket that cost me $$$$$$$$$ to settle (same disclaimer goes here)
But.... You just can't get this grin off of my face :D

So far I've taken two 6-hour business trips in the SS instead of flying. I'll do it again in a heartbeat.

I too have been north of 100 a few times, I do know for a fact that it will do whats on the speedo, but gm says more , so after my stage kit next week I will have to investigate. We have named it little monster and it is in the shop getting striped. I am having my wifes name put on the roof , like a race car. she still hasnt seen it . she is still on vacation until the 31st, I bought this a a gift. I keep telling her that the hhr is hers but the SS is mine. Whoo Hoo !

I will report back next week because I am flying to Texas to pick up my new SS.

I've loved driving mine more than any car I've had before...especially when I work late shifts, and there is no one on the highway on my way home. Lots of triple digit fun.

I only have a 10 mile drive to work. The first 8 miles is on a windy two lane "Ranch Road" (RR2243). The speed limit is 45 mph, then there is a traffic signal where I turn onto another road that is four lane (FM1431) for about 1 1/2 miles with a 55 mph limit, to long uphill curves. Let's just say that I can make it to work in about 10 minutes, and that is after sitting through a light... I haven't taken it on a long road trip yet. Easter my wife and I are going to the inlaws in San Antone... I'm stayin' off I-35, though, since I live in Leander and will take FM1431 to Marble Falls and taking Hwy 281 (for those from Austin. For those that have ever been to the Republic of Texas Bike Rally in Austin, FM 1431 from Cedar Park to Marble Falls is a legendary ride with a lot of curves and switch backs. My wife gets scared when i drive, and she doesn't know that it's only about half the way I drive compared to the way I drive alone (!)
