She borrowed the car and was doing me a "favor" by filling it up before she returned it. Oyyyy...guess that one backfired on her!

95% of the so-called octane boosters out there aren't worth the container they come in. It may bump you a couple of [decimal] points. I use toluene, available any any good paint supply store by the gallon. The formulas for calculating blend ratios for a specific dilution are all over the web. I recommend adding Lucas fuel treatment or Uplon to put some lubricity in to the toluene. Oh, and don't get it on your paint or any plastic or rubber parts.

I've been leary of adding anything like octane boosters or even Lucas due to this motor being DI. I've used Lucas FI cleaner on my old cars but haven't dared use it in the SS yet.

I've used 3 Oz / 10 gal Lucas on the HHR since new. No ill effects after 16K mi. There's no fundamental difference between ported and direct injectors other than the fact that they operate at much higher pressure. I would think, if anything, the mechanical fuel pump and pintle / seat would benefit even more from the added lubricity provided by the Lucas.

Even 90 the car doesn't like it? I have 94 in my area which is all I put in it, but if I got for a road trip some places only have 90. Now you got me a bit worried.
