One reason is so you can see if the door is locked. Another reason is that it would look like poo. Much like the goons who "mod" there rear wipers...

Thanks for all the tips. I just ordered the knobs. Is the site correct in that the locks are not threaded? I'll wait until mine arrive before testing the "break the seal" theory...

They are threaded in the traditional sense, there are grooves though.

AWESOME! thanks for the pix! So as previously posted, turn counter-clockwise and pull up to remove.

Let y'all know when I get her done.

Also ordered door sills and mud flaps from GM parts Direct. dealship wanted $91. Direct was 64+ shipping. Saved @$40 total. Hey, that's a tank of gas!

i might take off my passenger seat side, so when my buddy puts his arm in the window i can jam him with that gnarley looking thing.

OK, so I screwed this one up. Got the smoothies, before putting them on, I read about one of you cutting the post down 1/4 inch so that they would be flush. So I did with out bothering to check and see if the smoothie went down far enough for my liking. Now it's too low. Dumb me.
Doesn't matter anyway because the smoothie is to fat for the hole and wouldn't allow the lock mechanism to operate so I put the factory ones back on, 1/4 inch shorter. They're a little better than before.

Always measure twice, and cut once.

Jim
