Hi everyone,
Has anyone purchased drilled and slotted rotors,, for Brembo cars only. if so what brand and are you happy with the quality ?? no vibration etc.

Only buy them if you like the looks as they are for cosmetic reasons only.

I work in the performance aftermarket and deal with warranty and quality issues. The first thing the head of EBC brakes said to us was solid rotors are the best thing you can use. And he then said well why do I sell dimpled and slotted ? Because they make money.

Keep with a good name brans and only use a dimple or slotted. Drilled are a mixed bag of issues. Not only to the holes remove metal that absorbs the heat from the pads it also weakens them. Few drilled rotors will be recommended for track time or racing.

Years ago they were for out gassing organic pads that are not used anymore and they were drilled to make them lighter for better handling. Racers used to toss them after each race. Today most race cars use solid rotors with limited cleaning slots to clear rubber from the track.

Vibration is often from Rotor thickness variation from a bad hub bearing out .002 or pad material build up because the pads were never seated or bedded. Neither are rotor issues.

People treat these as rotor issues and have repeated issues often.

Use a good solid rotor to absorb the heat from the pad and also use a high quality pad if you can or have to spend the money. This is where the extra cost often helps. I only use EBC or Hawk anymore as they use higher quality materials and higher content. While some pad say they are carbon fiber or some other material there is no ruling on how much they contain and how much cheap filler is the rest. The higher priced pads hold more high grade materials and less cheap filler.

What Aluminum are you cleaning? If it is the wheels they are clear coated.

I have billet bow ties I use Wenol on to clean the winter crud off and polish them.
