Engine power loss during hard pull

Hello to all,

recently when I do a hard pull (Mainly in 2nd gear) The power just cuts out. The boost gauge still shows that it is in the boost, and the RPMs don’t drop but it’s as if I’m getting no power to the wheels. It’s not throwing any codes, overheating, making any weird sounds, or producing weird smells. I have also noticed it in 4th gear once, but it is mainly during a hard pull in 2nd. Feels as if no fuel is reaching the cylinders. Anybody dealt with this or have an idea what this could be?

Sounds like a slipping clutch.

Why not ?
Did you buy it used ? If so, don't know how the other person abused the clutch.
If your the original owner. Do you beat on the car ?
Is this your first stick car ?

That was my first thought.
If you regularly do "hard pulls" 70,000 is not that surprising.
If there is boost there is power going somewhere, if the engine was cutting back the exhaust gasses would decrease causing the turbo to slow down.

I got it used but nearly perfect condition (cosmetically). I’m the 2nd owner, after an old lady. But that’s a valid point, she could’ve tore it up. I had a TC Cobalt SS before the HHR, and a Chevelle before that so it’s not operator error lmao.

I drove the piss out of the Cobalt SS TC I had before this hhr and that car got totaled with almost 140,000 miles on the original clutch. I do hard pulls in the HHR, just not every single day. In comparison to the cobalt, it’s just surprising to me that the clutch would be going out with only half the miles
