FE5 Control Arms Part #

Does anyone know the part number for the FE5 lower control arms? RockAuto, NAPA, GMParts Direct, and AC Delco all have different part numbers. Some also show black control arms, and others show silver aluminum control arms.

With this LDK build I'm looking at the front end suspension and I noticed the previous owner put the smaller LS/LT rotors on the front, and could have put the LS/LT control arms if they were trying to "go for the more affordable" parts. Whoever got the parts was looking at the wrong platform!

To give piece of mind, I would like to get the correct ones for my 2010 auto SS

The LS/LT LCA's have a smaller ball joint stub, the SS caliper bracket places the caliper about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch farther away from the hub to accommodate the 11.65 inch rotors. You might have a wanna be SS there, or somebody went cheapo on the replacement parts!

We have lately noticed that even the GM parts books and MOOG are WRONG when it comes to HHR parts and HHR SS parts especially. Be careful.

You might be better off replacing the bushings and ball-joints, but the ball-joints that MOOG lists on their web site are WRONG! The ball-joins are not interchangeable; if somebody tells you LS/LT and SS uses the same ball-joints or control arms they are WRONG.

AS OB stated the stub on the SS is larger.

I installed some Moog CK620302 lower arms on my car a few weeks ago. My car started life as a LS so it had the small ball joint stud. Moog has no way of letting you know what size the stud on the ball joint is. Also if you want the Problem solver LCA bushing in the arm you will have to put one in your self, they don't sell it installed. You might be better off just getting the ball joints and LCA parts local, and doing a fit test to get the right size ball joints. You can always take the parts you don't use back to the store. If you have the 11.65 rotors on your car they will work with the small ball joint stud, mine do.

They would have to change the spindle as it has a larger ball stud socket, we've had a few SS owners break the spindle while trying to tighten the retaining bolt.

It's definitely a legit SS - running the vin number shows it's a true factory SS - original owner went on the cheap or someone gave him the wrong parts.

I'm not sure if I want to go with moot problem solvers or not - especially since those numbers look wrong too. Rock Auto doesn't even have anything listed with the FE5 identification for a 2010 SS, but they do for cobalt SS. In theory they should be the same LCA

I gave you the only part numbers I could find on the web, GM FE5 HHR SS and Cobalt SS LCA

As for the brakes it could just be the wrong rotors mounted on the car.

When you get the part numbers you should then get the same mfg part numbers for FE1/FE3 if they are the same something is wrong.

Thank you guys! Numbers are on the money OldBlue. Looking on GMParts Direct the other numbers I'm getting show it fits all HHRs - LS to SS models. The ones you provided show the cobalt SS only, and crate engine depot shows the FE5 arms being the same part numbers.

Looks like FE5 are
25930724 - Right
25930725 - Left

thanks guys - I've updated the parts list with the above part numbers, with hopefully suitable warnings about parts incompatibility - https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/comm...-part-i-48833/
