First accident in my new SS =[

Just this past Friday, I was driving on the freeway... And to my horror a 2x4 nailed to a 2x4 like a T (both pieces were probably 1 and a half to 2 feet in length) tumbled into my lane. Being that it was so big, and traffic was fairly high, I could not avoid it. The damage was a flat tire, the rim is fairly gouged up, and the ground effects on the drivers side has a 2 foot chunk taken out of it.

So yeah, I won't have my car for probably two weeks.

Always sad to get into your first accident, big or small.

Edit: The spare in my trunk did not fit... It was hitting the brake caliper... Has anyone had this problem?

This is a known issue. The owner's manual advises that you will need to move a rear tire up to the front and put the spare on the rear. I believe this only applies to SS's with the Brembo brakes.

That makes perfect sense! I thought it was because of the Brembos... The idea of putting the rear on the front and putting the spare on the back has totally slipped my mind... I'm embarrassed.

EDIT:Actually, now that I look back on it. I did check to see if the back calipers were the same... And indeed they were.. or at least I think they were.

At least no one was injured. Still sucks to get damage like this.

Ahh alright... I guess swapping the back to the front WOULD have worked... I assumed since the calipers in the back were the same it wouldn't have worked...

No, it applies to all SS's not just those with Brembo brakes.

From the 09 owners manual, applies to all SS:

Removing the Flat Tire and
Installing the Spare Tire (SS Model)

The SS Model has larger performance brakes than
the base model. The compact spare tire will not clear
the front brakes.
Do not use the compact spare tire in the event of a front
flat tire.
You must use the rear tire to replace the front flat tire.
