forge BOV install issues
 
location: left of and below the intake pipe. there will be a long t clamp bolt in your way.

time: some have said 15-20. 30-40 is more realistic.

removal: windshield wiper valance, wire loom, intake pipe cold and hot side. all pieces can be pushed aside. i tried to remove as little as possible but it just causes angry words.

tools: flat screw driver to remove pipe clamp, 10mm socket for the 3 bolts securing the BOV, 12mm socket for the t clamp. may need an extension or swivel.

verdict: does not matter if you have the straight or 90 nipple, lots of room. i had the 90. easy to do. just a tight space making hands and socket battling those 3 bolts. from what i read yellow spring for upgraded flash or green for stock. good luck.

I managed to do this without removing anything extra. Just took out the three bolts on the old one, then put the new one in with the original three bolts.
Tool selection was the key. I used a 1/4 inch drive ratchet/extension with a "wiggler" at the socket. This for the 2 lower bolts. Access was from the strut tower area.
A short box end wrench for the top bolt. Access from the top firewall.
15 minutes tops on the time to do install.
(spent about 20 minutes trying to figure the best way and tools to use)

I took the intake box off and that was it.

Little awkward to get to, but not a big deal. Little extension and socket for 2 of the lower bolts and just a long socket for the top bolt on the BPV.

I removed the stock one many times to "unstick" the swallowed spring. For me, my upper arms couldn't get through the opening, so the "windshield wiper valance" screws were removed to allow it to lift a bit and get my upper arms farther in there.

man i remember on my gti i relocated the diverter to the front of the engine and replaced with a forge mechanical recirc valve, that took 4 hours and 3 of those were getting the stock one off!! so 15 min to hour is waaay better to me lol

Did'nt remove much, just pushed things out of the way. Still drew a little blood, and dropped the lower bolt twice, but finally got er done. Really would'nt care to do it all over again. about 45 mins total. "Moon"

Yep, I did it moonsign style. Cursing, bleeding, and dropping stuff. I, too, was successful after I got some mini-wrenches that were only about 5" long. 45 minutes sounds about right if you don't count the trip to the hardware store and liquor store. If I had to do it again, I might remove the air-box as that would involve more dropping of things and cursing but presumably less scratches on my arm.
