To be fair, I was not trying to get snippy, just giving my opinion on the matter. I get its for an SS, but we all have our opinions on what works best and what doesn't. They could last for a long time or could fail in 1000 miles like any other axle. Sorry if I offended

To lighten the mood, I will add that mine likes to sit around thinking about hunting, rather than doing it.

2008 hhr ss half axles, working replacement

The GM dealer have discontinued the #15938134 OEM half axles. Oreilly has the GM-8206 Precision CV Half shaft for less than $90.00 and fits nicely.
After a lot of measuring and checking the angle between the transmission and axle hub the fit will work just fine.
Each store only carriers one part without ordering more so I had to stop at two stores which is no big deal.

The GM-8206 was discussed fairly extensively starting back around post #15 detailing the differences between the original and it. Have you actually installed and are confirming the part fits and works successfully?

The OP has not posted anything since he got mad at me for advising him to watch the boots. I still don't understand what offended him.

He did log on May 3, so he might update.

Those auto cv shafts are insanely strong
I was talking to DSS about axles for my F23 LNF, they said they could make me a set for $800 usd, but I might be going a different more expensive route for now by using my automatic cv shafts, a custom made intermediate shaft on one side and a Saturn vue intermediate shaft on the other side. The auto ss axles are very very strong and don’t need to be “upgraded” unless they’re broken. To my knowledge, the stock ones are the strongest available

You will definitely be going a “different more expensive” route. Automatic replacement axles are unavailable through GM. They are strong but wear out. The last sentence of your post would make more sense if it were worded differently. “To my knowledge, the stock ones are the strongest UNAVAILABLE.”

The Level 2 DSS Auto axles are recommended for use with forced induction. Maybe they are considered an upgrade because they are made from proven/known materials. Maybe they should be considered an upgrade because DSS will service them in the future? We don’t need upgrades??

My take, the factory ones are alright until you add power above what you would get from the stage kit alone. Above that and a number of thing show up. My CV joints are now sloppy, I can hear them click on turns and I'm getting a vibration when increasing my freeway speed, Also, control arm bushing are getting a workout. I'm in the process of building another motor, when I make the change I'll address all those items.

It's disappointing that after all the trouble that jojo went through, and after about 10 months, DSS has not added this to their online catalog.
