HHR SS approach angle / ramps

Can anyone tell me the approach angle for the HHR SS?

I've found that my maintenance ramps have too steep an incline and am looking for some with a lower profile/angle. Was surprised not to find a thread on this forum given Mobile 1 oil requirement.

Any experience with ramps that work would also be appreciated. I'm hopeful of finding something that works short of several hundred dollar racing ramps.

Going to hard to change the approach angle and use ramps. What kind do you have now?

Just an old pair of metal ones I inherited. Probably from Sears.

I'm not looking to change the vehicle approach angle, just to know what it is. Different ramps advertise different inclines (17deg for Rhino Ramps, 10 deg for Racing Ramps). Lower the incline the more expensive it seems - probably because they are selling to people with expensive sports cars.

I have a set of Rhino ramps, I'd have to look and see if they have a degree angle listing. Never noticed that.

What is the angle of yours?

having done towing for many years, i loaded a ferrari on a flatbed with 4 flat tires.

my trick was to lay blocks of wood down in front of the wheels and up to the ramp

so if you put a 2 or 3 foot piece of 2X4 between the tire and the ramp, it should lift up the front high enough to clear the ramp. if not put a thicker piece of wood after the 2x4 and before the ramp to make a step sequence

I had a '98 Neon R/T, very low. I had a set of ramps I think I got from Wallyworld, that had a short plastic approach that attatched to the ramp so you had a gradual incline to the ramps themselves. Really cool, I let them go with the car. I have been looking for another set. As I am typing this; I think I will call the guy that bought it to see if he still has the ramps.

A lot of people who own low ground clearance sport cars (Audi's, Vettes, Z's) have those type of ramps. I think I read, they tend to be on the expensive side of the dollar, now.

I do know some people, with this problem, build their own ramps with a longer approach. Some people just add, as mentioned, a length of 2x8 to the beginning edge of the ramp and tilt/elevate the edge. Some just add a 2x4 across the edge of the ramp.

Note: My experience with adding the wood to the edge revealed the wood would "peel" or slide away when trying to go up. A GOOD piece of waffle type carpet pad eliminated the problem (until I coated my floor....then nothing sticks to it).

I used a 4' 2x6 with a 2' 2x6 on top and then a short 3 or 4 inch piece as a stop. Only raises it a couple inches obviously, but it's enough to change the oil. Plus it raises it up high enough to get a jack under it if you need too. I couldn't find a ramp that was a decent price and not too steep.

Check out these on Summit Racing site. Part number BTI-RR-56

Race Ramps is a new company that offers many different ramps that work with low cars.

They are not cheap but they will work with most new cars. In the future cars will not sit any higher so these kinds of ramps will be the wave of the future.

I may pick up a set of the two piece ramps for my cars. I have one now I can hardley get a jack under let alone a regular ramp. Heck I can hardly get my car in my driveway.
