Yup, mine whines too at low speeds, especially when it's cold. It does it coasting in neutral, or in gear. Along with clunks on almost every shift and some weird chattering noise when I'm decelerating, it's the noisiest drivetrain I've ever had. It does shift fine though.

The noises used to bother me, but I just figure they're normal now and I'm almost starting to like them - it reminds me of a race-car transmission :)

2008 ss 5 speed. Black I have the same whine from my 5sp, I'm at 76,000 miles and planning fluid change for all fluids , is there a recommendation out there for an additive to quiet the gear noise.

 

Every 5spd I've drive is noisy. Just the nature of the trans. I've notice some of it comes up through the shifter.
