HHR-SS mis_matched paint

i have a 2009 HHR-SS Victory Red.....both front doors dont match the rest of the cars paint....wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same? The GM regional svc manager says the pass door is off color but not the drivers door......all they are willing to do is repaint the pass door....! it will never match is my concern...

IF they have a good body shop, they can make it match.

They had to redo the rear bumper cover on mine due to a scuff. Matched perfectly. But red is one of those colors.....

How is this even possible? Don't they paint the whole car at the same time? Unless they damaged something during delivery and had to repaint. Did you check for overspray on the inside of the door?

All the panels on the one I took delivery on yesterday match perfectly....just built on 3/4/09. This red should not be a major problem for a good body shop to match.

I have the same issue with my 2008 HHR SS. Mine is victory red as well and my two front doors are a slightly darker red then the rest of the car. It's very annoying now that I have noticed it. No one else has made any comments about it so I may just let it go but I may discuss it with the dealer tomorrow when I get my oil changed.

There has been at least one other forum member who had the same issue.

I would be suspicious that the vehicle was damaged in transit. Should be a record of that though. If I saw something like that prior to delivery, no way would I accept that on a new vehicle, so sounds like something for folks to look out for.

The doors are painted with the body if they do like they build the Cobalts.

They can and will match the paint if they have a good painter. I had a bright red GMC that was painted after I got backed into 6 years after I bought it. THey matched the paint to the point you could never tell. I am very picky and I could not tell in any way.

The key is a good painter.

the first time i washed my 09 SS, I noticed little pieces of blue painters tape under the rear spoiler, and a piece sticking out. When i pulled it off, part of it stayed stuck under the spoiler, and it looked like bare metal underneath. I took it in andmy dealer doesn't have an on site body shop (?) so they had it a week while I drove a white non SS panel (milk truck) that had blind spots from hell (go figure) and a bad valve sem on the LF tire, so I took it back and they gave me a base LS with a 2.2 and a 5 speed (not so bad). They "fixed it", never did get a story on what was up. I had also noticed that the body pan on the driver side was painted black, and the pass side is grey. What color are the pans (underbody) supposed to be? Body color or the grey color? I forgot to look at the loaners as it was rainy and nasty all that week and I never got a good spot to lay down on (!) It looks to me like they (someone) painted the driver side rocker molding with the car on a lift and there was overspray, so they painted all the way to the center. I wish they would have painted the whole underneath, but I concur that it is only cosmetic...

My 09 SS is a greyISH color underneath I asume this is the factory E-Coat, or base primer?
