HHR-SS mis_matched paint
There is one possibility. What the factory might do if there is in plant damage on a car they may steal the doors off another car that is father back in the production line. Most car production has mules that are painted just for parts. There can be a variation in color due to the color before your color and how good they purge the paint system.
well she isnt red but they didn't paint the black ones very well either. look inside the door jambs near the floor, inside the hatch, and my favorite the thin paint right below the GM performance emblem under the hood. there is a reason these cars are made in Mexico standards for factories are just not what they used to be and are certainly not what they would be in the US. I feel really bad for the victory red SS's out there, could it be that the paintBOTS(I think that 3 sprayers paint the "assembly pallet") were dipping from diffrent batches? or were the painted doors a/an off-the-shelf product on the line? or better still--were they repainted at the factory for the SS's?
i have a 2009 HHR-SS Victory Red.....both front doors dont match the rest of the cars paint....wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same? The GM regional svc manager says the pass door is off color but not the drivers door......all they are willing to do is repaint the pass door....! it will never match is my concern...
I took my victory red ss to the dealership and they told me they didnt see it. It is as obvious as rainmans, i don't know if they lied to me or were just not qualified to do thier jobs but they acted like i was crazy.
My Victory Red '09 has the mis-matched door paint issue also. When I picked up the car it was in the shade and I didn't notice it, got it home and washed and waxed it and took some pics, this is when I noticed the difference. It only stands out in certain light and I've decided to just live with it. I mentioned it to my wife after a few months and she had never noticed it.
I had this problem too...fortunately my dealer evaluated the situation and is willing to fix the problem...I even sent my salesman a link to this thread to help plead my case. I told him that I am very picky when it comes to the quality of the paint, so if it's not up to standards then I will not be happy. He swears by his bodyshop's work, so we'll see. The car goes in on October 19.
