Why does this question ALWAYS wind up with the damn owners manual? Give it a break!
We know...doesnt matter...read the manual next time you want to change tires sizes! And no, you dont have top trim the rear valance..it tucks nicely,,just put some clear mylar on it first to cover scuff...geez, act like its an act against god to use a hitch on these cars. My dealer has seen my hitch several times and never said a word...they have to PROVE you were towing and not carrying.Tell you what.. if you choose NOT to use a hitch, dont be jumping on a person who does,,fair enough? And yes I have one and yes it pulls a trailer for my 800# bike and no I dont have any issues, milage hardly even took an impact. Sorry yall had to hear that but this is getting old everytime somebody asks... |

This whole towing thing cracks me up. Growing up, if it could move it, we towed with it. That meant 3,000 pound ski boats behind Toyota Corollas (never tried it with a Pinto - would have been interesting). 5,000 pound camping trailers behind Mustangs. 9 foot cab-over campers on the back of 6 cylinder 1/2 ton pick-ups. If they sagged, we put on air shocks and kept going. The whole "don't tow" thing is a ploy by the manufacturers to avoid all responsibility if you try to move anything at all. Plus they are building transmissions that won't survive being driven normally, let alone towing anything. Now, is it rational to tow a ski boat behind an HHR? depends on how far, and how careful you are. But I"ve seen much worse around the lakes in Oklahoma.

I want to tow my boat. About 4000 lbs. It is a half mile, under 25, residential drive to Lake Erie. Sould be OK as long as she can pull 'er out. |
