Koni Struts
Koni Struts
Hey guys approaching 60k. In need of struts an shocks. Have the stocks struts with pedders springs . The Koni have damping adjustments that seems like a plus. Anyone have them on a SS. Feedback on them would be great an the best place to order a set. Thanks in advance
not to be a jerk or anything but GOOD LUCK finding them. i just had a friend of mine with a Cobalt SS Turbo search everywhere for them and he couldn't find any, even Koni doesn't have any. so your best bet would be to stick with the stock struts & shocks, nothing wrong with them, they are the best option out there (besides Konis of course). you can get a full set from Crate Engine Depot, be sure that the rear shocks are for the HHR SS (they are different from the Cobalt SS Turbo).
Summit beats any advertised current price on the same part number. Use this if you ever find it cheaper.
Koni America are like Bilstien they get shocks often from the mother country in containers and often they don't always know when some part numbers will come in. For some reason communication does not seem good from Europe to the American arm?
They can go long times between inventory on a part number and then bam it is in.
Note too that the SS factory shocks ands struts are Sachs [at least that is the name on mine]. These are prime units and often hold up well long term. The often can last up to 100,000 miles with little issue.
Not many racers and autocross racers often like shock and struts like Koni's with some miles on them. Some feel they perform better with some age to them. Just a preference thing I guess. Some of them like a softer compression or rebound.
