I personally don't like turbos, can't get the benefit with my type of driving. I like the low end torque of a big V8.( last car was an Impala SS) I just got tired of seeing how happy my gas station attendant was every time I pulled in. I think I paid off his mortgage early.

There is no replacement for displacement!
yes, yes there is.... Boost!!!!

actually, it is, its something that modifies the timing tables when the clutch pedal is fully depressed and the car is in 1st. DSM guys have done it forever, drag cars have done it for ever. It's also reffered to as "pop and bang" you put the car on the 2-step, and use this modified function and instant boost.

BTW what the hell saturn are you talking about?

thanks, the car had about 25 miles on it. I beg to differ, if you want to launch a car when do you run it to redline and pop the clutch?
this is supposed to be "launch control" not smoke control...
if you want to do a burn out turn the stabilitrak off...and smoke :)

it worked well, the car really launched and I have some hi hp FWD cars...:)

I think it is the new Saturn Sky Redline, the one that is shared with Potiac Solstice, new turbo version.
With my Impala SS, trying to launch with the traction control was quite a task. The wheel would jerk from side to side, as the traction control took over. What I thought was massive torque steer was actually added by some engineer on purpose. Real bad idea. If you tried to take off fast with the front wheels slightly turned, the rev limiter would take over (supposedly so you wouldn't score some surfaces in the differential) This would leave you stuck in an intersection, waiting for the power to come back.
I hate when designers and engineers come up with a solution to a problem that very few suffer from. Some jerk doesn't know how to drive in snow, so we ALL get "traction control"even in the areas where snow & ice don't occur. The funniest part about traction control is that IF you actually get stuck in snow, you have to turn off the traction control to get out.
