lost ground wire need help finding a home

I recently purchase a 2009 HHR SS and replaced the head gasket and timing chain

I cannot find a home for this ground wire (it lost it's tag somewhere)

pic #1 = The end that needs to find a home - general location is high pressure fuel pump driver's side of the intake, would reach under the intake.

pic #2 = where the wire is connected ground location above driver side headlight -

pic #3 = a wider shot of the location of the wire.

If you mean to say that wire is connected to the connector above the headlight, it probably goes to the bolt on the top of the trans. Maybe to the ECM.

I found the stud #3 in the picture you are referring to. I am confident the wire I need to connect does not belong there. I would have had no reason to disconnect it to remove the head.

The end that is still connected does connect to #2 or G103 in this picture. I am thinking either it is an SS specific wire - maybe high pressure fuel pump or something on the intake. I look under the hood of my dad's 2006 HHR with the 2.2L and it does not have the wire I am trying to connect.

The HPFP is mechanical.

Are there 2 wires connected to #3?

I am not aware of more than one wire connecting to G103. You seem to have 3.

I don't have an SS to look at, just going by what the book says.

I don't know of any wire connecting to the head besides a small one on the back passenger side on some cars.

I am thinking it may not even be a factory wire to be honest with you.

It is not connected to any other wires, wraps, or insulation. It is just a lone wire connected to G103.

The vehicle does have a front tow bar with trailer wires attached. Maybe an extra ground connection was added when that was installed.

You nailed it. I don't have any extra wires there.

Where does the other extra wire go?

Wow a ground is a ground. Find a home for it, it will work.

pearljamfan 04-13-2018 07:51 PM

3rd wire goes into the wire sheathing. I have not pulled it out to see where it goes.

I understand a ground is a ground that is why I had the question in the first place it does not make any sense to connect one ground to another ground point. I thought it should connect with something.

I won't wotry about it at this point because it is not a factory wire.

thanks for everyone's help
