This newest Camaro is pushing 4000 lbs. Maybe the 2.0 is ithe way to go for a future Camaro model, but I can't see it performing well at that weight.

I hear that, but maybe because of the smaller motor, it would have considerable weight savings. Just a thought.

For the first year you will see 2 engines, a 6 & an 8. The first ones off the line will be 8's. The 6's will blow away Mustang GT's.
so the base 6 will have more than 300HP? I never heard that before...
where'd you get the info?

so how is 290 HP going to blow away a Mustang with GT with 300?
Maybe a close race but "blow away?"

I was thinking they still had less HP. The previous Stangs didn't have 300, they had 260. I didn't keep up with the Mustangs.

As stated by Ed from GM:

In an interview Jim Mateja (an automotive journalist for almost 40 years) conducted with Ed Pepper of GM, the following was confirmed: Peper said only the coupe will be offered for the first nine months of the model’s life, with a choice of a 400-plus-hp, 6.0-liter V-8 or a 300-plus-hp, 3.6-liter V-6. He said mostly V-8s will be produced, for enthusiasts eager to get their hands on the first ones off the assembly line.

I'm also not trying to be a jerk, I have a friend who works for GM (don't want to get him in trouble) so I know a fair amount about the new Camaro. I also don't really keep up with it so I don't know what's been released to the public and what hasnt. I'm simply lucky to know what I do.
