Manual trans question

My 09 SS just came home and I'm getting used to it,

One issue is when I'm hard on it for some reason I lose 2nd 4th and reverse.

Now I know these have Syncro issues In 2nd but would that effect all the gears in the lower part of the shift pattern

Or could it be a miss adjusted cable since 2, 4, and R use the same cable I belive.

Thoughts?

Look here, post #8 has some instruction for adjusting the cables.

https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/hhr-...s-09-ss-20387/

This is a common issue. There may be worn parts in there also.

The cables were unavailable not long ago. They became available recently, in case you need new, you may be able to get them.

Ok found the issue

So took a drive with the console open and found the issue.

When I grab 2nd gear the white clip that holds the sheath (the outter cable cover).
Well that clip lifts up and out of it's mount

So until I get a new cable I guess the fix right now is a zip tie.

We recently had a discussion about SS shift cables. Seems they are NOT the same as LT/LS, like the parts books say. They were out of stock, but the member did end up getting one from a new batch.

My research and experience with my '09 SS Manual says that the entire shift mechanism is Saab. Around the same vintage 9-3 5 speed. If you're looking for parts, I'd search there too. I ordered the reverse lockout piece and a shift knob for a Saab and they worked great. Shift knob was an aftermarket piece. Cables may be sourced from a Saab as well, but I didn't research them.

For what it's worth.
