Talking Muffler delete 2009 SS panel

I just took the dip and did the muffler delete on my 2009 HHR SS Panel. I removed the muffler only and installed a 3and 1/4 inch exhaust pipe. Sound level isn't too bad, rather enjoyable in fact. With the stage 1 upgrade installed, boost seems to come on and hold better in first gear, and the pull thru the others is pleasing. All in all, if it's not your daily driver, it's a cool lil upgrade ( at a minimal cost)

But. The cruising speed "drone" will get on your nerves after some time. Most who do this mod(like me), will eventually put a muffler back on.

Justt saying this from experience and reading other SS posters.

Yeah sounds good outside but the drone in the ****pit is bad.
I have a 3 inch straight pipe all the way back.

Interferes with hearing good rock and roll radio and with the sunroof open it is even worse. I have been told to just put on a resonator so that is what I am trying.

I tried mine with the muffler delete, stock tubing and resonator in place. Still droned.

Lightbulb

if it becomes a problem (the Droning), maybe some Dyno matting will do.

Wink

also it may be the droning isn't a problem because of the panel as opposed to the glass in the back. With no windows and soundproofing throughout, its not that bad.

The droning in my panel is fierce and don't open the sunroof. It has a stainless steel Exhaust mamifold and 3 inch stainless all the way back.

Love the sound outside though.
