My SS now has 900 miles, and I felt it was time to test the thing before I get the stage kit installed.
So I was at a stop light at 6:00AM this morning, alone, and nobody in sight. Pushed the traction control button. The light went green and I pressed the gas pedal a little, to get the SS going… then I pushed the gas pedal firmly, right to the floor….. 1 second, two second, 3 second…. OmyGoooooooooooooooD…
those poor Michelin lost traction and lit right up, screaming painfully and puffin smoke… Geeeeeeees…
and I have an automatic. Next thing I knew I was doing over 60 in a 30MPH zone. I'm wondering the kind of launch you guys with a 5 speed have when you floor it.
I’m having second thoughts about the stage kit… Do I really need this?
I have an Aeroforce gauge, but, honestly, I don’t know what the boost was when I released the throttle… However, I confirm that the turbo works.

Does anyone *need* the stage kit? No.
But the question is, do you WANT it.
There definitely is enough power as it is to light up the tires off the line, but if you want more higher up in the revs, then the stage kit will help you out.
Im sure though that you have read the posts about pipes popping off and sensors hitting due to engine rock. Just be aware and take care of your vehicle.

In a short time the power you have now will feel like nothing special.
I am to the point now the stage kit just feels normal and when I see 22 PSI I don't get excited anymore. Yes it pulls just as hard as ever.
The thrill wears off but the power remains.

that breaking loose you experianced happens with my 2.2L LS auto trans... its that sudden rolling of gravity towards the back... and yes the 2.2 had the same effect--- huge cloud of smoke and to my supprise, dual patches of rubber... just little ones... like 20-30 ft long, but they were there
and i was coughing... next time ill make sure the windows are up
HEHEHEH
more power is never a bad thing.... its only more better (*ROFL*)... though the front end "could" be a little heavier so the tires locked in a bit sooner to avoid the mosquito killer
get the stage kit ^_^ GET IT *chants* GET IT GET IT GET IT GET IT lol

true, no one "needs" it, but hey you bought an SS so you obviously like power. I don't care so much about the off the line. The nice thing is the power it has when you kick it down a gear. It really does move.
At only 900 miles, you're still on the "honeymoon" with your new HHR SS. Once you start getting used to the power that it currently has, the adrenaline addiction will bring you to your local GM dealer to get the kit installed. Have fun for now and save some for later. You'll eventually get the kit. It only gets better.
