my buddy just put a trailer hitch on his new stick shift vw golf gti for hauling his bike to the track, just has one of them single axle tractor supply trailers.

doesnt seem to have issues... i know our hhr ss bumpers are little lower, but i think CURT manufacturing makes ones for cobalt/hhr ss

obviously your not pulling a 28ft r&r snowmobile 4 place enclosed trailer though haha

I wouldnt do it.. the bumper cut up and potential trans / clutch issues probably make it a risky venture. She's only meant to haul ass!

I think you have to cut the bumper to fit the hitch under it(SS only). and as for the trailer issue, what are you towing? because these are useful:http://www.etrailer.com/Hitch-Cargo-...FQFx4AodfBURcg

Sigh...you dont have to cut the bumper....on any models. They are enough of us that have them with no cutting .. mine has been on since Aug of 08 and no longevity problems..not even rusty ....

On your SS?

I'd love to measure the difference between a base and SS bumper height-wise.

Sigh.

EDIT, LOL it might clear-

i've seen pictures on this forum of a trailer hitch on a red SS and it barely made the bottom of the bumper go up, so no need to notch out the bumper.

The bottom edge rests on the bar..its not perfect..its below and not obvious unless your really looking...the valance is plastic, flexible and does not move around.

i do not have a SS but that is another sad story. But I have towed a 1,200 lb trailer about 50,000 miles with no issues. And a knowledgeable installer will fit the trailer under your bumper skirt. These are some tough little vehicles.

Is the exclusion there for auto SS's as well as the manuals? For the LS/LT's itlist manual not to be used to tow. Autos it talks about how to go about towing with it.

I still stand by my previous comment.
