Now we are getting some where!

Well I got up this morning and took the SS to my local dealer to get a second opinion on the boost problem as mentioned in earlier threads of mine.
I explained that the truck seemed to run good but the gauge wasn't reading correctly. They got their shop supervisor in on it and he checked it over with his TECH II and said everything was normal. I asked him to take a ride with me and monitor the boost levels on the tech 2 while I monitored the gauge.
Long story short he showed 20 psi on the tech 2 while I showed 5 psi or less on the gauge. We first thought OK it's the guage but then he looked and noticed that the psi never fell below 14 psi. So they have ordered a new gauge and boost controller. Hopefully it want take forever to get the parts, I finally feel like I am getting some where with this problem. I should have gone to them in the first place as they have always done top notch work for me in the past.
On a funny note the SS sure did attract a crowd as this was the first one they had seen at this dealership. I was a proud papa.

That's great news, Tony! You should post that dealer here for all the locals to be aware of.

The dealer that diagnosed the problem correctly and is in the process of fixing it is West Chevrolet in Alcoa , TN. Great service department and outstanding folks to deal with.

I hope they do a "product report" on yours. If something is developing that could be widespread, we need good repair info.

that's great you're getting the problem resolved...
Finding the right service manager is huge. Seems odd that the boost never fell below 14 psi, kinda strange eh?

Tony,

My boost guage seams to be reading the same as yours. Bearly gets any boost, maybe 5psi at the most. It runs GREAT with great power, more that a 2L could get with out any boost. I'm still braking baby in just turned 400 miles today (in 3 days) I should be over 500 this week-end and I'll try some full throtle stuff to see what it does.

Sounds like you may have the same problem. As soon as mine is fixed I will let you and everyone else on here no exactly what the problem was.

Woops!!!

Just crossed the 400 mile this morning and found what was wrong with my boost gauge. ME! I Did my frist really full throttle acceleration. in second and third gear, WOW does that little baby take off when the gauges cross from vacuum to boost and when it hits 15pps WOW. Like a rocket on the 4th of July!

Off to put some more miles on it.
