Sorry to see that you got tagged by one of the many morons loose in the world.
Unfortunately Miltown, its an expensive fix if done right, the door skin will have to come off and be replaced, which is what I'd insist on chonface.
Talk to the body shops where you get estimates and ask how they'd do the repair, what you don't want to hear are the words "dent puller" and "filler".

Someone opened their car door into mine last night. I usually park in the back but I got greedy and took a close spot at red lobster. I come out and a big scuff of paint is gone off my mirror. Ugh! At least its someone what an easy fix. Strip the old paint and re-paint. But man im sorry to hear about that. Sucks when people have no regaurd for someone elses car.

Man thats horrible.. That was one of the reasons why it took me so long to purchace a nice new car is because for the longest time I never cared about scratches dents or dirt in the interior now i'm super anal...
